Minutes (approved) Steering Committee of the Green Party of Humboldt County (GPHC) held at Nelson Hall East Room 119, Humboldt State University on Friday, November 5, 2004 Meeting: 7:00-9:00 p.m. PRESENT: Mike Cordova*, Secretary Charles Douglas* Barbara Shults*, Treasurer ABSENT: Greg Allen* (Recuperating Candidate) Martha Devine* (Unaware of meeting) Alma Torres* (Speaker Phone Not Available) (*) designates Steering Committee Member CALL TO ORDER The meeting of November 5, 2004, was called to order at 7:45 pm by Secretary Mike Cordova (in the absence of interim Chair Martha Devine). 1. INTRODUCTIONS 2. APPROVAL OF MEETING RECORD MOTION WAS MADE (Douglas/Shults) to approve the meeting record of October 5, 2004, with an added notation clarifying SC membership. MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY 3. ELECTION OF CHAIR AND TREASURER Barbara announced her resignation from all Green Party positions effective upon adjournment of the meeting. Elections tabled to allow nominee recruitment. 4. POST-ELECTION PRESS RELEASE MOTION WAS MADE (Douglas/Cordova) to release the statement on the November election with an additional notice of SC vacancies. MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY 5. WEBSITE AND LISTSERV Charles has the new site up and is requesting email addresses for list preparation. Barbara said it was a good idea to establish separate lists for annoucements and discussions to prevent people from dropping out because of abusive people. MOTION WAS MADE (Shults/Cordova) to adopt the standing policies regarding the Announcement, News, Local Discussion and Global Discussion listservs. MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY 6. TREASURER'S REPORT The Treasurer's materials were transferred to Barbara from Seer Snively via Greg. 7. TABLING COMMITTEE Charles will contact Dee Brady to inventory tabling supplies. 8. GA AGENDA PROPOSAL Charles will prepare an agenda proposal with the following items: SC elections, GA meeting record approvals, endorsements, bylaws for Accountability Committee, quorum requirement for SC, and local versus state issues. 9. APPOINTMENT VS. ELECTION Charles announced that Greg has stated his intention to be a candidate in the Arcata special election. 10. CAMPUS GREENS Dan Close (HSU) and Charles Douglas (CR) continue as the campus contacts. 11. ADMINSTRATIVE ITEMS Barbara gave the pager and PO Box application to Mike with more to follow. 12. ANNOUNCEMENTS The next Plenary is scheduled for Ventura on December 4 and 5. 13. ADJOURNMENT There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 8:30 pm.
