The Green Party is not just a political party. It is the electoral arm of the growing movement for social, economic, and environmental justice. We are a values-based party that is supported and governed by our members—people like you.
Unlike other political parties, we do not solicit or accept corporate money. Elected Greens (and our party officers) are accountable to members, not to corporate donors. As corporate money threatens the integrity of the electoral process, the Green Party stands as an example of a party of principle. And it’s working!
Green Party members hold over 50 seats in California. Statewide, we are proud to have Gayle McLaughlin, serving as Mayor of Richmond, Bruce Delgado, as Mayor of Marina. As of November 3, 2009, Greens make up a majority on the Fairfax Town Council in Marin County.
In Humboldt County, Kaitlyn Sopoci-Belknap is was re-elected to the Humboldt Bay Municipal Water Board in 2008 and now serves as Board President. Former Chair of the Humboldt Green Party Dana Silvernale was elected in 2009 to the Governing Board of the Northern Humboldt Union High School District, and in 2010, Dan Hamburg was elected to the Mendocino Board of Supervisors.
Elected Greens are showing voters that Greens can be trusted to follow thrugh on their campaign promises. The political capital that comes with integrity cannot be matched by any amount of corporate financing!
